High Performance Coach
Reports To: Chief People & Experience Officer
Location: Australia (with remit across APAC and Middle East — UAE & Saudi Arabia)
Employment Type: Full Time
This is not a traditional Learning & Development role.
The best coaches and athletes in sport don't just run training sessions. They build cultures. They develop people. They create environments where individuals grow faster than they thought possible — and where the team becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
That's exactly what this role is. And it's why our client isn't looking for a typical L&D professional. They're looking for someone who's lived high performance — as an athlete, a coach, or both — and is ready to bring that mindset into one of Australia's most ambitious property development businesses.
Our Client
Founded in 1974 - grown into a leading diversified property development and construction company operating across Australia, APAC, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. They develop and deliver large-scale commercial and residential projects — and what sets them apart is that they do it all in-house.
Developer. Builder. Subcontractor. All under one roof. Full transparency, full accountability, and a relentless focus on delivering on promises.
They've scaled from $30 million to $300 million. They're heading to $1 billion and beyond. And as the business grows, they're making a significant investment in the thing that will take them there — their people.
The Opportunity
This is a build-from-scratch leadership role. You'll own both the strategy and the execution — designing a people-first learning culture that develops high performers, exceptional communicators, and future leaders across the Group.
The leadership team is deeply people-focused. They believe in tailored growth plans, holistic performance, and experience-first leadership. Policy is a framework, not a ceiling. They want their people to thrive — professionally and personally — and they want this role to be the engine that makes it happen.
Think of it like this: you're the head coach of a team that's already winning, but has the talent and ambition to compete at a completely different level. Your job is to build the program that gets them there.
What You'll Do
- Design and lead the Group's Learning & Growth strategy — from executive leadership through to frontline teams.
- Build tailored growth and development plans for individuals across all levels of the business.
- Develop authentic leadership programs that create real capability, not corporate checkbox training.
- Bring a high performance sports mentality into the culture — goal setting, mental resilience, team cohesion, peak performance habits.
- Implement holistic wellbeing and work-life coaching programs that support the whole person, not just the employee.
- Source, engage and coordinate external coaches where needed to complement internal programs.
- Partner with the executive team and business leaders to solve real challenges through learning — not just deliver courses.
- Build scalable learning pathways that grow with the business as it expands globally.
- Lead and develop a high-performing L&D team as the function scales.
Who We're Looking For
Our client is genuinely open on the industry background — but they are very specific about the experience and mindset they want in this person.
- You've played or coached at an elite or professional level — you know what high performance looks, feels, and demands.
- You've led teams. Captained a program. Built a culture. You understand what separates good teams from great ones.
- You know how to get the best out of people — individually and collectively — and you don't use a one-size-fits-all approach.
- You think strategically but you execute practically. You don't just design programs — you run them.
- You're credible with senior leaders and executives. You can hold a room, challenge constructively, and earn trust fast.
- You've built or transformed a people development function — L&D, high performance, coaching, or similar. Again, doing this in sport counts.
- You thrive in fast-moving, high-growth environments. You're energised by ambiguity, not paralysed by it.
- You're commercially sharp. You understand that development only matters if it drives real business outcomes.
Our client's way
This is a business that moves. They've built a reputation on accountability, product mastery, and a one-stop-shop model that gives clients full transparency from land to delivery. That same standard applies internally — they want a team culture that reflects the ambition of the business.
They are not interested in corporate training for the sake of it. They don't run programs to tick boxes. They invest in people because they believe it's a genuine competitive advantage — and they want a High Performance coach who believes that too.
Their values:
- Ownership — at every level
- Action over perfection
- Commercial thinking
- Straight talk
- Continuous improvement
- Genuine passion for growth
The Scope
- Global remit — Australia, APAC, UAE, and Saudi Arabia
- Business scaling Up
- A people-first organisation investing heavily in this function
- A seat at the leadership table — reporting to the Chief People & Experience Officer
- The opportunity to build something from the ground up, with full executive support
